The play is done, the curtain drops,
P Slow falling to the prompter's bell:
A moment yet the actor stops,

The '85 Day Party was held, regardless of the weather, on
the night of January 17, 1985, exactly 85 days before the
weekend of graduation. The Sons of Italy hall was
decked out for this gala occasion to accomodate a ma-
jority of the senior class. Musical entertainment was pro-
vided by Mike Boulton and Starlight productions.

The WHS Wildcat Soccer Team ended
its season with an 8-7-3 record This
was a better record than anticipated
but it became a disappointment be-
cause of the fast start and poor finish
nature of the season

Jim Taylor lead the team in scoring
with 1 2 goals and 5 assists for a 17 point
total placing him 12th m the league

Sean Connors, Steve Caizzi. Jim Tay-
lor and Brian Wetzler made the all star
team with Sean making the Confer-
ence All Stars as well

Bill Herrick. Ed Silva. Jeff Grecoe. B*
Zambernardi, Dean Colarusso. Carl
Townsend, Bill O'Donnell. Anthony
Guglielmo are the seniors leaving the
program due to graduation

The Girl's Cross-Country team had an excel-
lent season, sporting a 5-2-1 record. The high-
light of the season was the first ever victory
over Billerica (26-31), The girls also made a
great effort against Chelmsford (28-28) and
just missed defeating Lowell (28-27). The
team had a tremendous showing in the State
Class Meet, missing qualifications in the All-
State Meet as a team by a mere 3 points.
Andrea Hayden, the Wildcat's top harrier,
went on to compete individually in the All-
States and placed a respectable 15th. An-
drea and Lauren were selected as MVC
All-Stars and chosen as Lowell Sun All-Stars.
Debbie Errico and Julie Richburg remained
among the top competitors for Wilmington as
Debbie earned her 4th varsity letter, while Ju-
lie copped her 3rd.

1st Row: C Dindo, D. Richards, K. De Young, D. DeMarco, B. Moon, B. Woods. M. Woods. 2nclRow:S. O'Connell,
G. Sullivan, D Gorski, M. Ingersoll, D. Fuller, D. Hanson, J. McLaughlin. 3rd Row V.. Oulette, A. Cutone, K. Collins, T.
Deegan, F. Ryan, E. Shelley, J. Desforge, D MacDonald, J. Tully. 4fh Row: D. O'Donnell, R. Lydon, L. Moore, G.
Smith, C. Athanasia, B. Alpers, D. Deon, M. Sheridan, 5thRow:R. Barber, M. Spencer, R. Terrozzano, B. LaBossiere,
J. Corbett, J. LaBossiere, T. Rooney, R. Sargent, E. Downs, dth Row:G. MacDonald, D. Duffy, S. Hayward, D.
Danico, A Ausiello, M. Morranzini, K. Lyons, D. Needham.

Coach Ed Harrison's club began the season in fine style, topping Greater Lawrence (27-8). Lawrence (28-0).
and Andover (27-4) before a 15-15 tie in the last minute at Billerica snapped the streak Since that deadlock,
the Wildcats have dropped gannes to Chelmsford (13-0). Methuen (21-9), Lowell (14-0). and Dracut (44-7)
However, Wilmington gave both Chelmsford and Methuen all that they could handle.

"We played super at the beginning of the year." offers the low-keyed Harrison. "We could have caught one or
two of those teams if we had played as we did at the start."

It seemed that almost every Thanksgiving the Redmen would unveil a fancy new play and leave the Wilming-
ton football team with red faces. This Thanksgiving, however, the Wildcats made certain the Redmen left town
with pale faces.

Senior runningback Chris Dindo threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to end Brian Moon off a reverse late in the first
half, and the Wildcats held on for a 9-7 Merrimack Valley Conference victory over Tewksbury in their 50th
Thanksgiving Day clash in front of 5.500 fans at Alumni Field. The win snapped a four game losing streak leaving
the Wildcats finishing with a 5-4-1 season ledger.

The Boys' Cross Country team ron to o
2ncl place finish in the MVC small divi-
sion with an impressive 6-2 record. The
season started v^ith a smash as the
Wildcats defeated Billerica and a few
weeks later outdistanced Lowell (27-
29) in Lowell for the first time in WHS
history. In the season finale the varsity
lost a heortbreaker to Lawrence for
the divisional title. However, Coach
Kelley's crew bounced back to run
past cross-town rival Tewksbury, and
then placed 10th in the state meet to
wrap up a fine season. Contributing
outstanding efforts through the year
were MVC all-stars Brian Ribiero and
Frank Dinsmore. Captain Paul Quandt,
Glen Baptiste and Kenny McGowan all
ran superbly, while adding depth nec-
essary for the team to enjoy a super
season.

Due to the graduation of ten
varsity starters the 1984 Wild-
cat Wrestling Team was young
and inexperienced, comprised
mostly of sophomores. The
season was one for rebuilding
the team, as they had little
success, while compiling a 2-
16-0 dual meet record. The
season did end on a positive
note OS Captain Dove Hanson
(HWT) placed fourth in the
MVC Tourney, while Paul
Cant well (121) and Dove Mac-
Donald (HWT) both placed fifth
In their respective weight class-
es in the Division II North

By every indication, the Girts' Track
Team had one ot its most successful
seasons, winning 3 and losing 5. The
losses were close, but they were more
than offset by a thrilling come from be-
hind victory over Tewksbury Individual-
ly, some excellent performances were
turned m by Kim Mytych in the shotput.
Susan McFadyen and Nancy Jones m
the dashes. Debbie Ernco, Winnie Cor-
saro, Lauren Callahan and Andrea
Hoyden m the longer distances, and
Julie Richburg in the hurdles. The enthu-
siasm of the team members was excel-
lent, and the result, in most cases, were
very rewarding. Kim and Andrea
placed in Division II of the State Meet
with Andrea finishing fourth m the All-
State Competition.

The Girls' Varsity Gymnastics
Team continued to improve
this year with 2 wins and team
scores that were consistently in
the 90's. They also set a new
school record for the most
points scored in a single meet
with a score of 99.0 at London-
derry, N.Y. The girls worked
hard to improve themselves,
making a respectable showing
in an increasingly difficult
league.

The Wilmington High School hockey
team finished the 84-85 season with a
9-9-1 record which was good enough
to take second place in the MVC Small
School Division The Wildcats have hod
strong support by their defense, led by
Dante DeMorco, Steve Coizzi, and
Dove Fuller Although the team was
somewhat inconsistent, they played
well for most of the season and the
scoring punch was delivered by the
line of Tom Craig. Bill Woods, and Jim
Taylor.

The 1985-85 Girls' Basketball Team was
captained by seniors Gail Lombard, Ja-
net Crowley, and Sharon Carbone Se-
nior starters Kristen Butt and Kathy
Robinson contributed both ottensively
and defensively while senior Vol Sulli-
van added offensive spark helping the
team earn an 8-10 record in the very
competitive Merrimack Valley Confer-
ence. The season was highlighted by
victories over last years' champion
Chelmsford and large school oppo-
nent Andover. Despite several injuries,
the season ended on a positive note
with hard fought victories over small
school rivals Drocut and Tewksbury.
The team was led by three-year starter
and two-year MVC All-Star Gail
Lombard.

After two years of struggling, the Boys'
Track Teams started its ascendency in
1985 Early season losses were counter
balanced by some stellar perfor-
mances as the year progressed Any
opponent that encountered the Blue
and White after the Christmas break
soon found that they had a Wildcat by
the tail Greater Lawrence and Great-
er Lowell were defeated, and the Me-
thuen, Lawrence, and Tewksbury
meets went down to the wire Eric Cri-
panuk, John DeForge. Frank Dmsmore.
and Brian Ribeiro shone brilliantly m ma-
jor meet competition, all four eormng
league All-Star recognition The nice
thing IS the majority of the team will be
returning next year

The Yearbook Staff would like to express its
appreciation to several groups and individuals
who have helped turn this "production" into a
reality. First there is John Neister, our Jostens
Yearbook Representative, who has helped us
design our book, layout the pages and obtain
the necessary tools and methods to make this
book unique to our class. Second we would like
to thank those individuals of the faculty and
staff at Wilmington High who have encour-
aged our work on the book, assisted us in vari-
ous ways and endured our actions and
requests concerning "the book". Finally we
would like to thank Mr. Dicey, our Yearbook
Advisor, who mode this book possible with his
dedication and willingness to comply with our
demands. Here is the book, our "Final Produc-
tion". It is the truth when we say, "We gave it
all we had, we only had one try and we did our
best at it." Thank you all for your help.

Make Your Life Count!

Good afternoon! Honored quests; members of the fiftieth year class; members of the twenty-fifth year class; Dr. Soger, our
Superintendent of Schools; members of the school administration; faculty; and fellow students. Our twelve years of formal
education has ended. For these many years, most our decisions hove heen mode or guided by our parents, teachers, friends, and
administrators. We ore now on our own. It is now up to each ou us to decide what we wont to do with the rest of our life and how
we are going to accomplish it. Whatever we plan, should aim to moke our life count.

How do we make life count? We've all heard time and again that our vote counts. But that isn't what I have in mind. Making your
life count means a lot more than voting. It means taking part in society and being a good citizen. As citizens of the commonwealth
of Massachusetts, we have a unique heritage. This heritage is to moke decisions for the common good now and in the future. This
heritage which introduced public schools, established Harvard University, and created a model manufacturing city, Lowell, is what
mokes us different and has made our country strong. We ore expected to contribute to the common good of all citizens.

But it's more than that. It means being gainfully employeed and being active in the community. It means enriching the lives of
those we come in contact with just as our teachers, family, and friends hove done for us. The opportunity to do a kind deed may
be very brief. If you hove kind words to soy or love to show do it now, for this is the lost time the class of 1985 will be all together/

An anonymous poet wrote:

"The life that counts must toil and fight;

Must hate the wrong and love the right;

Must stand for truth, by day, by night—

This is the life that counts.

The life that counts must hopeful be;

In darkest night make melody;

Must wait the down on bended knee —

This is the life that counts."

"The life that counts must helpful be;

The cares and needs of others see;

Must seek the slaves of sin to free —

This is the life that counts."

Jennifer St. Onge
Valedictorian

Appropriate Prospectives

Members of the school committee. Dr. Soger, members of the 25th and 50th year classes, honored quests, faculty
members, administrators, Mr. Fleming, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Woods, families, friends, and fellow graduates good afternoon
and welcome to the commencement exercises for Wilmington High School's Class of Nineteen hundred and eighty-
five.

As graduating seniors we hove experienced many events that ore significant to our lives. As we grow older, these ex-
periences and the people that are important to us now will lose their importance to newer experiences and new
people. We will meet new friends and will be placed in new environments. As our lifestyle change, our hopes and
dreams will also change.

Although we should continue to progress throughour lives, we should not forget our post. The past provides us with
memorable lessons, learning experiences, and even a simple smile on a rainy, dreary day. Old friends should always
be remembered and cherished. Old experiences should remain inthe backs of our minds to help us through difficult
times.

An even mix of past, present, and future should be maintained for a fulfilling and enjoyable life. Who can survive in the
present without looking for a better future? Who can only live in the present without looking on past experiences for
help?

If we are to survive in today's modern world, we will hove to keep appropriate perspectives on every aspect of our
lives. As we receive our diplomas today, we will be taking another step into the adult world. To enjoy this life to its ful-
lest, we must live actively in the present, remember fondly the post, and aspire fervently to the future.

Thank you.

height test tubes to Miss Dadoly.

Scanlon.

Bob George, Bob Hanlon, Bob Travaglia, and Bob Palmer leave all the
cars they've ever driven and crashed to anyone wishing to open a
used car lot.

when they started.

Maria Alpers leaves Ms. Aldrich.

Sean Connors and Jimmy Taylor.

Dave Corvino leaves instructions on saying 'how to soy no to beg-
gars' to any generous underclassman who needs them.

Savosik.

Steve Caizzi leaves his middle name to Mr. John B. Lynch

Bill O'Donnell leaves his beautiful blue eyes to any freshman girl who
wants them.

The basketball teams leave the promise that things can only get
better.

The entire Class of 1985 leaves to Mr. Fleming tuition for an English as
a Foreign Language course.

And to Mr. Boucher, we leave our deepest thanks for his hard work as
Class Advisor.

To all underclassmen, we leave wishes of good luck for their future
years here, renovations and all.

Andreas Papaliolios

History

It is hard to believe that only four short years ago we entered Wilming-
ton High School. In September 1981, we met with Mr. Boucher, our class
advisor, and elected our first class officers. Stephanie Dionne became
our president, Andrea Ausiello our Vice President, Sherry Jensen our
Secretary, and Maria Alpers our Treasurer. Freshman year was a slow
year as we spent most of our time trying to find our classes and trying to
sell candles, neither of which was very successful. We managed to
have one great freedom that year which we soon lost- Open Campus

Our sophomore year, while the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasur-
er stayed the same, Nicky Byrd, through his Reagan like jelly bean
campaign, became the first black President of Wilmington High School
This year our funds went up to about $300 00 after a somewhat suc-
cessful carnation sale. Things also began to pick up as we learned the
meaning of such words as "The Rink" and "Baldwins"

Our junior year was a year of more change. We elected two new
officers. Jay McFayden became President, and Tricia Mottolo became
secretary. Our funds increased the most our junior year due to a profit-
able candy sale and magazine drive. We had our Junior Prom at the
Bedford Stouffer's Glenn in Bedford. Although the weather the next day
was a bit cold, we all hit Hampton Beach and partied all day long Our
junior ended with the realization that we would then become Seniors.

As we look back on our senior year, we have many things to remember.
Having already been under the administration of 3 different principals,
we again, were faced with a new and very different principal, Mr. Paul
T. Fleming. This past year, we again elected two new officers. Sean
Connors became our new President, and Denise Quinn our Secretary
We sold candy again, and made enough money to afford a supple-
ment (unlike the Class of '84) Under the administration of Mr. Fleming,
we attained such privileges as Senior lounge, and donuts and milk in the
morning. We also attained the privilege of spending 10 minutes of our
lunch outside by the gym, but it seems as though all woukj rather stay m
the cafe to watch our traditionol food fights Possibly our rrost success-
ful and memorable class event was the '85 Day Party. Surely, r>o one wiB
forget our beautiful cake split in half and laced with chocokate ex-kax.

As we're gathered here today, we can look forward to the Servor Prom
on May 28, 1985 at the Colonial Hilton in Lynnfield The rr»ost nrverrxsroble
event in the past four years. however will be held on June 2nd on our
football field when we will receive our dipk>mas. and lotn together fof
the last time before stepping out into the world orouxj us, to rDoke our
dreams become reality

Prophecy

The year 2000, 15 years from now. The class of 1985 — where they are.

Joy McFodyen is president of the now 2^st Century Fox.

Tim Benoit now owns Demuios where Lynn Johnson, Susan Maxwell, and
Nancy Jones are still cashiers. In an unprecedented show of generosity,
Tim has given the three a 10c raise.

After the introduction of his successful line of clothing called "The Q
Collection", Marque Froser is trying to help Lisa Doucette with a prep-
pie comeback.

Richard Liggiero, even though he now meets the minimum height re-
quirement at Canobie Lake bumper-cars, still needs to sit on telephone
books to see over the dashboard of his new corvette. Korla Weed liked
his vette so much that she bought one of her own.

Jimmy Taylor, Billy Woods, Don Gorski, and David Buzzell worked on Lite
Beer commercials until they were fired for drinking all the props.

Andrea Ausiello married Kareem-Abdul Jabaar and now has normal
sized kids.

Anthony Guglielmo works on a suicide hotline talking people into it.

Lauren Callahan, Julie Richburg, and Jennifer St. Onge went on to take
degrees in paleontology, but are having troubles finding jobs because
nobody knows just what paleontology is.

Bill Zambernardi collaborated with Jane Fonda to make his own work
out book called "You and your Chest".

Lisa Medieros and Debbie locco joined a convent and are now nuns.

Steve Collins and Celio Cornish, after ten years of engagement, hove
finally decided to put off marriage for another year.

Pom Davis achieved fame as a pro mud wrestler and yearbook
publisher.

Maria Alpers, Diane Newark, and Ann Linnehan have passed away but
they are still haunting the corridors at WHS.

Steve Pilla and Dean Colarusso have married and are honeymooning in
the Swiss Alps.

Steve Caizzi hosts his own game show with Linette Ceaser, Gina
Ciampa, and Stacey Palmer as the prize girls.

Bill O'Donnell and Scott Munro are hermits at the Cape Cod mall.

Andy Papaliolios builds up a computer company over the years only to
have multi-millionaire Ed Grise buy it out from under him.

Shaun O'Connell still has a rock stuck up his nose.

David Corvino is building igloos in Alaska.

Lou Saccocea owns his own chain of junkyards.

After testimony given by Nurse Karen Sondberg and Nurse Michelle
Toto, I am behind bars for medical malpractice, under the watchful
eyes of Warden Robert Feeney.

Ricky Mucci is a pro stunt car driver.

Brian Wetzler is stranded on a desert island after accidentally sinking his
own navy ship.

Kristen Knight is a womens' lib activist.

Rob Travoglio and Robert George now have new cars, but this time
they paid for them.

Linda Anderson, Angela Butters, and Lori Delfino become doctors
thanks to Mr. DeRosa's pearls of wisdom.

John Tully, John Meeker, Billy Wolfe, and Fran Brisbois were arrested
under charges of partying with the intention to trash Wilmington.

Tricia Motollo became on auctioneer.

Gregg Sullivan eloped with Carmalita Fernondes and is now a bullfight-
er in Spain.

James Christie now has his own intricate hutch company.

Joe Ciocco, Chris Murray, Mark Bartnick, and Bob Antico hove become
millionaires by inventing the combination beer and pizza vending
machine.

Brian Surette rents himself out to area high school students to sniff out
parties. He hasn't missed one yet.

Kim"Oilcan" Mytych makes it as a pro softball player and Gail "Dr. L"
Lombard was just traded to the Lakers.

Bill Tucci owns McNomara Tires, just so he can make 'em and bake 'em
for free.

We are not without our explorers. Tom Craig is exploring the African
Congo. Janet Crowley and Kristen Butt are exploring Miami Beach. Mike
Woods was lost while exploring Tewksbury.

Eleen Law opened her own hot dog stand at Livingstone Golf Course.

Glenn Baptiste is still running track with Mr. Kelley to repay him for the
Calculus book he never returned.

Sean Connors made National Enquirer headlines when he claimed to be
the illegitmate son of tennis star Jimmy Connors.

Scott Mugford, Dave Richards, and David Hanson became Wilmington
Police Officers and are frequently seen at Dunkin' Donuts.

Mike Liggiero entered a freak growth spurt and now has a neck.

Mr. Fleming has just written a Fleming to English dictionary for the
teachers.

As of yet, the basketball team's record remains unbeaten.

The 15 /rt class reunion was held at Bill and Bob's. At that time, the class
also had the opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the school
renovations.
